Almost there, the list is shrinking

I have been knitting away until my hands start cramping, the race is on and I'm determined to win this one. I'm so determined that not only have I been completing items, but I've been deleting items from the list as well.

Since 2 posts ago when I gave my remaining Christmas knitting list I've completed:

  1. Mauve Flower facecloth (no picture)

  2. Alpaca Ribbed Hat
  3. Alpaca Hat

  4. Fetching fingerless mitts
  5. Pink Fetching Fingerless mitts

  6. Green/Brown striped Felted slippers
  7. Felted Green/Brown Slippers
And I've removed from the list:
  1. 1 pairs of socks
  2. 1 pair of slippers
  3. 1 pair of thrummed mittons (I really don't like thrumming)
Remaining items:
  1. 1/4 of a jaywalker sock
  2. 1 full pair of diagonal rib socks (not needed until Dec 27)
I am going to make it! I will not be knitting on Christmas eve until the wee hours of the morning. What a Christmas this will be!

Christmas treats

Sunday afternoon was spent with my friend Line making Christmas stitch markers. What a fun activity , and it's quite addictive too.

We went to a beautiful Christmas dinner hosted by the wonderful Heidi at London-Wul.

In celebration of this fun event we decided to give each guest 2 stitch markers which were placed neatly beside each place setting.

I loved this idea, which was Line's idea by the way, because the markers were unique, properly themed, not expensive and extremely fun to make. I enjoyed making them so much I came home and made myself a bunch of blue/green markers!

Is it Christmas Yet?

I can't wait until Christmas! Not for the usual reasons of giving and receiving presents, but because that will mean I've completed making presents. I really enjoy making things for others but right now I'm having to knit what needs to be knit not what I feel like knitting. I have such fun yarns sitting around wanting to be made into something but they are on hold until Christmas knitting is completed. I'm almost there though.

5 socks left (2 full pairs and 1 sock)
1 alpaca ribbed hat
1 pair thrummed mits
2 pairs of felted slippers
1 facecloth
1 fingerless mitten

That's it... that's not bad. I think it might even be doable.

Here are the latest 3 completions.

Socks for Mom in grey...

And socks for Dad in Trek sock yarn.
Diagonal Rib Socks

I really like the Diagonal Rib pattern. I made it from just a regular 9x2 rib and included a stitch that was on baby sweaters I'd made recently. The Trek sock yarn is fabulous to work with. And this colorway is perfect for a man but still interesting enough for the knitter.

Scarf for my step-mom:

Green/blue ladder scarf

Next up... a cotton chenille facecloth...
